Metric Aerial Camera

These metric cameras are used for acquiring photographs with sufficient overlaps for photogrammetric applications with lens resolution of 70 lines / mm. The format size is 23 cm X 23 cm.

Films which are normally used for aerial photography in the above cameras are

  • Black & white Kodak aerographic 2405
  • Kodak black & white infrared film 2424
  • Kodak true colour 2445 or 2444
  • Kodak false colour ( colour infrared) 2443

All the above cameras are modified to intigrate with KGPS.

World Wide Mission Planning software and aircraft Computer Controlled Navigation System (CCNS) are used to optimise flight duration.

From the combination of the available cameras, films and quality of photo processing , aerial photography resolution of 40 lines / mm (25 microns) of the scale of photography is achieved.

DM-SAR

DM-SAR is active microwave sensor aimed at obtaining images of earth's features by observing the reflected electromagnetic radiation. It is an all weather sensor to obtain images at day and night. The frequency of DM-SAR is 5.35 GHz with HH/VV polarizations.SAR surveys are conducted for near real time damage assesment studies. It can be operated at following different resolution/swath.

  • 1 m Resolution Mode over 6km Swath
  • 3 m Resolution Mode over 25km Swath
  • 5 m Resolution Mode over 50km Swath
  • 10 m Resolution Mode over 75km Swath
  • 30 m Resolution Mode over 75km Swath

Airborne Magnetometer

Magnetometer is an instrument for measuring the intensity of earth's magnetic field. Magnetic minerals present in the rocks produce magnetic anomalies. These anomalies are useful for earth subsurface studies. The earth's magnetic field intensity are measured in nano Tesla (nT) units and the field values lies within the range of 20,000 nT to 1,00,000 nT.

Aeromagnetic Data Acquisition System and Aeromagnetic Sensor

The aero-magnetic sensor system is installed in the aircraft with the sensor strapped down to the aircraft tail-boom. The airborne system comprises of high sensitivity Cesium magnetometer (M/s Scintrex, Canada) with associated electronics, 3 axis compensation system and a data acquisition system. The magnetometer has a sensitivity of 0.01 nT and a recording accuracy of 0.1 nT.

Airborne Magnetometer is integrated with inertial navigation system, radio altimeter and GPS. The ground magnetometer records the earth's magnetic intensity to study the diurnal variations.
Applications

  • Mineral exploration
  • Hydro carbon exploration
  • Ground water exploration

Large Format Digital Camera(LFDC)

This is a metric camera capable of acquiring digital images in true RGB & NIR with high spatial and radiometric resolution. This system is under procurment and will be operationalized shortly.
