                   Migrating                                      The Kosi river fan located in Bihar, the northern part
                                                                  of India is one of the largest alluvial cones built by
                                                                  any river in the world. During the last 200 years,
                   River                                          the Kosi river has shifted westwards for a distance

                                                                  of about 112 km abandoning and burying its
                                                                  older channels and forming new ones. The Kosi
                                                                  megafan is spread over ~10,351 Sq.km with
                                                                  a maximum length and width of ~155Km and
                                                                  ~115 km respectively.  The  Resourcesat-2 AWiFS
                                                                  image shows this gigantic geomorphic marvel
                                                                  clearly.
