Bhuvan Disaster Management Support – Flood & Cyclone Monitoring

The Bhuvan Disaster Management Support – Flood & Cyclone Services provides satellite-based geospatial information to support monitoring, assessment, preparedness, and response during flood and cyclone events. Developed by the National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC) under ISRO's Disaster Management Support Programme, the services bring together near-real-time and historical disaster information through an interactive map-based platform.

The Flood Service provides information on recent flood events, including satellite-derived flood inundation layers, affected locations, inundated crop areas, vulnerable low-lying areas, historical floods, annual flood layers, flood hazard zones, and aggregated flood maps. The service also provides access to metadata, technical documents, and web service information for selected datasets.

The Cyclone Service provides near-real-time cyclone information, including forecast and observed tracks sourced from the India Meteorological Department (IMD), cyclone intensity categories, possible severity zones, and cyclone-induced inundation information. Historical cyclone events and associated satellite-based information are also available for visualisation and assessment.

These services enable disaster management agencies, government departments, planners, researchers, and other users to visualise and analyse the spatial extent and impact of floods and cyclones. By bringing satellite-derived information and geospatial tools together on a common platform, Bhuvan supports informed decision-making for disaster preparedness, response, relief, and recovery.
