In order to address the pools and fluxes of carbon, we have carried out vegetation Carbon pools ( VCP) and Soil-Vegetation-Atmosphere Carbon Flux ( SVAF)projects  under the umbrella of ISRO geosphere Biosphere Projects. Under VCP we have generated first national level spatially explicit defensible forest above ground biomass map using data mining techniques using several geomatics based layer in conjunction with meteorological, phonological and 6000 ground inventory plots across country.

Under SVAF, we have established a network of Eddy Covariance flux tower in the important forest types wherein we are measuring the ecosystem level carbon and water fluxes at 10/ 20 HZ.Both the inputs are very critical to fulfill several international protocol fulfillments besides the national science needs.
