Application of Space Technology in Wind and Solar Energies for Forecasting the Surface reaching solar radiation and wind speed.

NRSC will work on development of methodology for forecasting of day-ahead surface reaching solar radiation and wind speeds over NTPC stations (namely Noida, Ananthapur and Mandsaur) using WRF-Solar and Satellite data. Transfer the technology will be done at the end of the project. Methodology involves the parameterisation from INSAT 3D derived weather parameters, inputs from other parameters from National Centre for Medium Range Weather Forecasting (NCMRWF) and global Weather Research and Forecast Models. Day-ahead forecast of solar radiation is being sent to user on continuous basis since Feb, 2018 on experimental basis.
