Operational Projects

AS&DMA, NRSC has executed several projects to generate large scale and high resolution geospatial data products using airborne sensors like aerial digital camera, airborne laser scanner (ALS), Synthetic Aperture Radar and ground based survey equipment like GNSS. Some of the major important projects are listed below –

ISRO's Disaster Management Support Programme (DMSP)

High resolution geospatial data base compatible to 1:5000 scale and DTM with 25 cm accuracy in MSL datum for six major river basins Ganga, Brahmaputra, Kosi, Hooghly, Mahanadi, Godavari across the country covering an area of 66200 sq km has been completed in phase1. As part of phase 2, another 15000 sq km area for Ramganga basin in UP and Hyderabad urban area DTM generation with 25 cm is in progress.

Flood Management Improvement Support Centre (FMISC)

The user of this project is Bihar state government and the project area is part of Bihar state which has been divided into two parts Part-A (7930 sq km) and part-B (6960 sq km). As part of this project aerial LiDAR data is used to generate DTM at 20 cm accuracy in MSL, geospatial database at 1:5000 scale and orthoimages at 40 cm GSD were generated for block-A. Data product generation for block-B is in progress.

Coast Zone Topography Mapping for Tsunami Warning System for Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS)

Airborne Lidar data is acquired and processed to generate high resolution Digital Terrain Model (DTM) along Indian Coast for Storm Surge Studies and Tsunami modelling. Total area covered as part of this project is 24020 sq Km i.e., 2Km of inland along the entire coast. The data products generated were DTM with 35 cm accuracy in MSL datum, geospatial database at 1:5000 scale, Orthoimages at 50 cm GSD.
