GeoMGNREGA

Geo MGNREGA is a largest rural developmental initiative in the country. The activities involves execution of various developmental works in villages with help of local manpower to ensure guaranteed employment. Assets are created under each identified work, catering to the employment creation of rural landless citizens, in turn building a wide rural infrastructure network. Since there is involvement of several stake holders and hence monitoring and reporting the assets created is important. Developed mobile applications were developed for enabling crowd sourcing of assets creation alongwith their status and are hosted on Bhuvan-MGNREGA. A web GIS based mechanism for creating geotags for all MGNREGA works across the country is very successful and presently 3 crore assets are geotagged. This is useful for Ministry of Rural Development. Series of capacity building activities are conducted for successful adaptation of the technology.

Integrated Watershed Management Programme (IWMP)

Integrated Watershed Management Programme (IWMP) creates wide network of farm ponds, check dams and other soil conservation measures apart from supporting many other natural resource management actions. A geospatial data oriented Web GIS solution along with smart phone based application for achieving transparent and precise governance is developed and hosted on Bhuvan-IWMP.

High resolution time series satellite images rendered in natural color coupled with smart phone uploaded field inventory of activities done under IWMP. With spatially explicit and detailed space based imaging of the watersheds for time periods before the implementation of IWMP projects followed by post implementation period, it is possible to watch the changes brought in due to activities duly validated by the near real time inventory of the field structures and activities.

8200 microwatershed projects to be monitored for five years. Utilisation smart phone application based geotagging of activities are being handled by State agencies. Visualization of assets brought in high level transparency that is acknowledged widely.

Monitoring of NABARD Watersheds

Web based monitoring and evaluation of 108 watershed projects is implemented in Gujarat (28), Rajasthan(31), Madhya Pradesh (13) and Telangana(36). Resourcesat IV and Cartosat series of satellite data is being used for monitoring the watershed related activities on annual basis. GIS based customization is done for querying and analysis of available watershed data for watershed related Physical and Financial activities and is hosted in Bhuvan-NABARD. These efforts are useful for achieving transparency in monitoring the assets / activities, Application of RS in Natural Resource management and facilitating the linking management information system to geo spatial visualization.

SIS-DP

Space based Information Support for Decentralised Planning at Panchyayat level (SIS-DP) is a national initiative of preparing basic spatial layers useful in planning process at grassroot levels as per 73rd, 74th constitutional amendment of local self governance. NRSC is the lead centre to execute the project in collaboration with various State Remote Sensing Centres. For the first time an all India mosaic of high resolution ortho products and DEM from Cartosat-1 and Resourcesat data was prepared and basic thematic layers at 1:10K scale viz. LU/LC, drainage, settlements, transportation network, slope and aspect were prepared and relevant collateral data useful in planning exercise was also integrated. Under Phase II, this project shall be implemented shortly with a enhanced scope of updating geodatabase with latest high resolution remote sensing data and spatial data analytics to generate simple & ready to use geospatial products and services at Grampanchayats. The geodatabase, products and services prepared under this project are expected to be disseminated through Bhuvan geoportal.

Geotagging of Assets through EPRIS

A geo-spatial inventory of the community assets in all Gram Panchayats of the selected Districts are being geotagged under a project named Empowering Panchayati Raj Institutions Spatially (EPRIS) in 57 districts in the country. This will depict Gram Panchayat level spatial depiction of planned activities in selected Districts.The asset mapping and activity planning component comprises of conducting field asset mapping and activity planning tasks in each Gram Panchayat of the selected Districts with the help of Partner Institutions.

The geospatial inventory of assets being created, along with thematic information can be used for the governance for finding the gap areas in development, that are further used in decision support for Natural Resources Management and planning for civic amenities in rural areas.
